Scripture
“And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” — Acts 10:38 (NLT)
Have you ever stopped to consider what your life is holding—and what it is pouring out? Whether we realize it or not, our lives are like containers. Containers don’t just store things—they eventually pour out what’s inside. Your thoughts, your words, your habits, your reactions—all flow from what you carry within.
Jesus is our perfect example. Acts 10:38 paints a powerful portrait of His life: filled with the Holy Spirit, empowered by God, and constantly pouring out goodness. Wherever Jesus went, goodness followed. Healing came. Compassion showed up. Wisdom was spoken. People walked away better, healed, and full of hope. His life was a container of heaven’s goodness, and He constantly dispensed it.
Now think of your own life. What are you carrying? Is it joy or bitterness? Encouragement or criticism? Peace or anxiety? Whatever fills your heart will overflow into the lives of those around you—whether it’s your family, coworkers, or strangers in passing. Our lives are not neutral—they either contribute life or drain it.
Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 4:7 that “we have this treasure in jars of clay.” We are fragile, imperfect vessels, but within us is a treasure—God’s Spirit, His Word, His love. The question is: are we allowing that treasure to shape what pours out of us?
One powerful example is the story in Luke 8, where Jesus is on His way to heal a dying girl. But on the way, a woman suffering from a bleeding condition for twelve years reaches out in faith and touches His garment. The Bible says power flowed from Jesus. He literally dispensed healing without even speaking a word. Why? Because He was full of the goodness of God. His container was ready and willing to overflow—even when He was on the way to do something else. Jesus wasn’t just good when it was convenient. He was good—so goodness naturally poured out.
There are people in our present day who are willing to give all to impact someone’s life and show God’s love wherever they go. They aren’t always famous or on stages—they’re often ordinary people doing extraordinary things through God’s power.
What are you storing up in your life each day?
When people interact with you, do they leave encouraged, uplifted, or even healed in some way?
Are you so full of God’s presence that even your unintentional moments are life-giving?
If we want to be containers like Jesus—overflowing with goodness—we must be filled daily with the Holy Spirit, God’s Word, and time in His presence. What you pour in is what you’ll pour out. Be intentional. Let your life be a vessel of kindness, patience, and grace.
The world is desperate for people who carry peace in the storm, kindness in a harsh world, and hope in hopeless places. You don’t need a platform to change lives—just a full container. Let God fill you with Himself, and watch how He uses your everyday life to bring healing and goodness to others.
Heavenly Father, thank You for filling me with Your Spirit and for giving me the example of Jesus. I want my life to be a container of Your love, kindness, and truth. Help me to empty out anything that doesn’t reflect You. Fill me fresh today with Your goodness so I can pour it into the lives of those around me. Use me as a vessel of healing, peace, and joy. In Jesus’ name, amen.
