Where are You: A Call of Hope

Scripture: Genesis 3:8-9 (NIV) - "Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, so they hid among the trees. But the Lord God called out to Adam, 'Where are you?'"
Devotional Thoughts
When Adam disobeyed God's command not to eat from the tree of knowledge, he and Eve hid among the trees, ashamed and guilty of their actions. In that moment, the first thing God did was to call to Adam, "Where are you?"
This question might seem simple, but it holds profound meaning for us today. When we've messed up, made mistakes, or sinned, it's easy to feel ashamed and hide from God. We might wonder if He still loves us, if He's still willing to forgive us.
But God's call of hope is not a question about our whereabouts; it's a reminder that He's always with us, even in the midst of shame and guilt. He knows where we are - in our pit of despair, in our hiding places, in our darkest moments.
Practical Reflections
When you've sinned or messed up, take a moment to reflect on God's love for you. Remember that He's always with you, even in the midst of shame and guilt.
Ask yourself if you're hiding from God or if you're running to Him with your mistakes. Which one do you need to change?
Take time to journal or write down your thoughts and feelings about your past mistakes. As you reflect on them, ask God to forgive you and help you learn from those experiences.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I know I've messed up and made mistakes in the past. I'm ashamed and guilty of my actions. But in this moment, I want to run to You with my heart open and my spirit surrendered.
Lord, speak to me as You spoke to Adam - "Where are you?" Help me see that You're always with me, even in my darkest moments.
