Devotional Thoughts
The story of the prodigal son is a powerful reminder of our tendency to satisfy our greedy selves, our inclination to do things our way, and the overwhelming love of the Father when we return to Him in obedience.
In Luke 15:11-32, Jesus tells the story of a son who demanded his inheritance, squandered it in reckless living, and found himself destitute. When he came to his senses, he returned to his father, hoping to be received as a servant. But his father, seeing him from a distance, ran to him, embraced him, and restored him fully as his son.
This parable beautifully illustrates how, no matter how far we drift from God, He is always ready to welcome us back with open arms. His mercy and grace are boundless, and He delights in our return.
Take a moment to reflect on how you may have drifted away and squandered your inheritance. It could be through addiction, pornography, deception, or other sins. No matter how deep you are in the ocean of sin, the everlasting love of God is always calling out to embrace you.
In Isaiah 59:1, God reassures us, “Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.” His hands are not short, and His ears are not heavy. All it takes is for you to realize His love and call unto Him.
Remember that God's love is greater, no matter how far you’ve gone. Return to Him, and He will cleanse you and show His mercy. Let the story of the prodigal son remind you that God’s love is always waiting, ready to restore and renew.
