Scripture: "Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth." — Philippians 2:9-10 (NIV)

Devotional Thoughts

The name of Jesus carries unmatched power and authority. It is not just a label but a declaration of who He is—Savior, King, and Lord. From the moment the angel told Mary and Joseph to name their child Jesus, His name carried a divine purpose: "You are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21).

Jesus' name means "The Lord Saves." It embodies His mission on earth—to redeem humanity and reconcile us to God. The power of His name is revealed throughout Scripture: demons flee, sickness is healed, and storms are calmed when His name is declared.

One example is in Acts 3, when Peter and John encountered a lame man at the temple gate. The man begged for money, but Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk" (Acts 3:6). Immediately, the man was healed and began walking and praising God.

This miracle underscores the authority in Jesus' name—not just in the past but today. His name brings healing to our brokenness, hope to our despair, and victory over every spiritual battle.

Jesus Himself declared in Matthew 28:18, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me." When we invoke the name of Jesus, we tap into that authority. It is not based on our strength but on His completed work on the cross and His resurrection power.

Paul emphasizes this in Colossians 3:17, saying, "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." This verse reminds us to live our lives completely surrendered to His name, recognizing that every action and word can be consecrated for His glory.

Practical Reflection

Closing Thoughts

The name of Jesus is not just a word—it is a weapon, a refuge, and a source of life. When we speak His name, we align ourselves with the victory He has already won. Whatever you are facing today, remember that His name is above every name, and nothing can stand against it.

Prayer

Dear Jesus, Your name is holy, powerful, and above every other name. Thank You for the salvation, healing, and peace that come through You. Help me to trust in Your name in every situation and boldly declare Your greatness to the world. May Your name be lifted high in my life today and always. Amen.
