Every great journey begins with a single step. I remember my dad’s old bike. On it was a sticker that read, “The journey of 1000 kilometers starts with a step.” That phrase has stayed with me for years, reminding me that no great accomplishment happens overnight. The most successful people, the strongest faith journeys, and even the biggest businesses all began with a single decision to start.

Many times, we hold back from taking the first step because we feel it’s too small, too insignificant, or not enough to make a difference. But God delights in our small beginnings. When we look at the story of David, he didn’t start as a mighty king—he began as a shepherd boy, tending his father’s sheep. Yet, it was in those humble beginnings that he learned to trust God, fight battles in secret (against lions and bears), and prepare for the moment when he would face Goliath.

In the same way, if we desire to grow spiritually, it starts with a simple step—prayer, reading the Word, and trusting God daily. If we have a business idea, we need to begin with what we have, even if it’s just a small amount of capital or a single customer. Fear often tries to paralyze us, but faith requires action. God does not despise small beginnings, and neither should we.
