Scripture: "I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds." — John 12:24 (NIV)

Devotional Thoughts

There is something mysterious and powerful about a seed. It carries the potential for life, growth, and fruitfulness, yet it must be buried in the darkness of the soil before it can sprout. Jesus used this imagery to illustrate a profound truth: true life comes through surrender, death to self, and trust in God's unseen work.

We often desire visible results in our spiritual journey—answers to prayers, breakthroughs, or signs of progress. But God's kingdom operates differently. Many times, He plants us like a hidden seed, deep in the soil of uncertainty, trials, or waiting. In those seasons, it may feel as though nothing is happening, but beneath the surface, transformation is taking place.

Consider Joseph in the Bible. God gave him a dream of greatness, yet he found himself hidden in the darkness of a pit, a prison, and years of waiting. It seemed as if his life was buried, forgotten. But in God’s perfect timing, the seed of his destiny broke through the soil, and he became a ruler in Egypt, saving many lives. What looked like a season of being buried was actually a season of preparation.

Practical Reflection

Are you in a season where you feel hidden or overlooked? Do you wonder if your prayers and obedience are making any difference? Just like a seed beneath the soil, God is working even when you cannot see it.

Trust God's timing. Growth takes time, and He knows when your season to bloom will come.

Stay rooted in faith. Even when things seem dormant, keep praying, worshiping, and walking in obedience.

Let go of control. The seed does not determine how or when it will grow; it simply surrenders to the process. Surrender your desires and trust that God knows what is best.

Closing Thoughts

The hidden seed is never forgotten. It is planted with purpose, and at the right time, it will break through the surface into the light. Your season of hiddenness is not a waste—it is preparation for what God has in store. Stay faithful, and in due time, you will see the harvest.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the hidden seasons where You are working in ways I cannot see. Help me to trust in Your perfect timing and to remain faithful even when I feel buried. Give me the patience to wait, the strength to endure, and the faith to believe that You are bringing forth something beautiful in my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
