Scripture: "For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse." — Romans 1:20 (NIV)

Devotional Thoughts

We often find ourselves making excuses. "I didn’t have time." "I wasn’t feeling well." "It wasn’t my fault." Excuses are a natural human tendency, a way to avoid responsibility or accountability. However, when it comes to our relationship with God, the Bible makes it clear—there are no excuses.

Romans 1:20 tells us that God has revealed Himself through creation. The majesty of the heavens, the complexity of life, the order of the universe—these all testify to God’s existence and power. No one can claim ignorance; the evidence is all around us.

Excuses are nothing new. In Exodus 3 and 4, when God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, Moses made excuse after excuse:

"Who am I that I should go?" (Exodus 3:11)

"What if they do not believe me?" (Exodus 4:1)

"I am slow of speech and tongue." (Exodus 4:10)

Yet, for every excuse, God had a response. He reminded Moses that He would be with him, that He would equip him, and that He had already prepared the way. Eventually, Moses obeyed and became one of the greatest leaders in history—not because of his own ability, but because of God’s power.

We often act like Moses. God calls us to step out in faith, to serve, to love, to share His truth, but we hesitate. "I’m not good enough." "I don’t know what to say." "It’s not the right time." But God doesn’t accept our excuses—He gives us grace, strength, and everything we need to do His will.

Practical Reflection

Closing Thoughts

God has given us every reason to trust Him and no reason to make excuses. When we step forward in obedience, we find that He is already there, preparing the way. Let’s stop hesitating and start walking in faith, knowing that with God, we are more than capable.

Prayer

Lord, forgive me for the excuses I have made. I know that You have called me to live in faith, not fear. Help me to trust You completely, to step forward in obedience, and to rely on Your strength rather than my own limitations. Thank You for Your patience and Your grace. Give me the courage to say "yes" to You today. In Jesus’ name, Amen
