Devotional Thought
Life is a journey, and like every journey, it has an endpoint. As humans, we often avoid thinking about death; it's an uncomfortable subject that can make us feel uneasy. However, the Bible reminds us of an important truth: we are appointed to die once, and afterward comes judgment. This is not meant to instill fear but to guide us into living purposefully, with eternity in view.
Living with the end in mind means recognizing that our time on earth is limited, and every moment we have is an opportunity to draw closer to God, live for His glory, and reflect His love to others. When we embrace the reality of our mortality, we begin to make intentional choices. Instead of chasing after fleeting pleasures or temporary gains, we focus on what will stand the test of time—the legacy of faith, love, and obedience we leave behind.
The choices we make today impact our eternity. The way we treat others, the priorities we set, and the way we spend our time and resources reflect whether we truly believe in what comes after this life. Knowing that judgment follows death should prompt us to live in a way that pleases God—not out of fear but out of love and reverence for Him. Jesus has made a way for us to be reconciled to God, and it is through Him that we can face the end without fear, knowing that our eternity is secure.
Practical Reflection
Ask yourself: Am I living each day with the end in mind? Reflect on your relationships, your values, and your priorities. Are they aligned with God's purpose for your life? Take a moment today to evaluate the things that truly matter. Let go of grudges, seek to love more, and invest in the lives of those around you. Make time to nurture your relationship with God, knowing that the ultimate goal is to hear Him say, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
Closing Thought
Living with the end in mind is not about despair; it's about hope. It's about knowing that we are preparing for something far greater—eternity with our loving God. Let the reality of death and what comes after motivate you to live fully and faithfully today.
Prayer
Dear Lord, thank You for the gift of life and for the reminder that my time here is limited. Help me to live each day with the end in mind, making choices that honour You and bring me closer to You. Let my life be a reflection of Your love and grace. Teach me to number my days so that I may gain a heart of wisdom and live with eternity in mind. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
