đź“– Scripture:
“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” — Luke 10:19 (NKJV)
As a child of God, you were born into a spiritual kingdom. And just like how children born into royal families inherit authority by birthright, you also inherit authority through your spiritual rebirth in Christ.
Many believers walk through life unaware of the power they carry. They live as if they are powerless, pushed around by fear, guilt, and spiritual opposition. But Jesus didn’t die and rise again just to give us salvation—He also gave us authority.
Think about a police officer. Their authority doesn't come from their personal strength, but from the badge and what it represents. In the same way, our authority isn’t based on our own power, but on the One who backs us—Jesus Christ.
In Acts 3, Peter and John encountered a lame man begging at the temple gate. He expected money. But Peter said something powerful:
"Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk." (Acts 3:6)
Peter knew what he had. He didn’t pray for God to intervene; he exercised the authority Christ had given him. And the man was healed!
Peter wasn't acting in arrogance, but in confidence. That’s the key difference. When you understand your authority, you don’t need to beg God to do what He’s already empowered you to do. You act in alignment with Heaven’s will, just like Jesus did.
You have the authority to:
1. Overcome the Enemy: "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you." — Luke 10:19 (NKJV)
2. Pray and Receive Answers: "And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son." — John 14:13 (NKJV)
3. Forgive and Be Forgiven: "If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained." — John 20:23 (NKJV)
4. Heal the Sick: "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons... they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." — Mark 16:17–18 (NKJV)
5. Make Disciples: "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations..." — Matthew 28:18–19 (NKJV)
Are you aware of the authority you carry in Christ?
Do you approach challenges with fear or with the confidence that you are seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6)?
Have you allowed the enemy to occupy territory in your life that you actually have the authority to reclaim?
The authority we have isn’t about controlling others or boasting—it’s about standing firm in who God says we are, resisting the enemy, praying bold prayers, and walking in freedom. Knowing your authority will change how you pray, how you speak, and how you see yourself.
You don’t have to live beneath your inheritance. Jesus has given you access, authority, and the backing of Heaven. The enemy will try to convince you that you're weak, but the truth is—you are more than a conqueror. It's time to stop living like a spiritual orphan and start living like a royal son or daughter of the King.
Father, thank You for adopting me into Your family and giving me authority in Christ. Teach me to walk confidently in that truth—not with pride, but with boldness and humility. Open my eyes to the areas where I’ve been living beneath my inheritance. Remind me daily that I am backed by Heaven and empowered by Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
