📖 Scripture

A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.” — Luke 6:45 (NLT)

💭 Devotional Thoughts

We often try to manage our behavior—watching our words, curbing our reactions, polishing our image. But Scripture makes it clear: what's within us will eventually show up on the outside. Our words, our responses, and even our decisions are mirrors of our inner life.

Jesus said these words not to condemn, but to help us examine our hearts. If gossip, criticism, bitterness, or fear continually leak from our lips or linger in our minds, it's not just a "bad day"—it's a clue. A clue pointing inward.

Just as a tree is known by its fruit, our hearts are known by what flows out of us.

Let’s look at King Saul, for instance. At the beginning, he was humble and even reluctant to take the throne (1 Samuel 10). But over time, jealousy, insecurity, and fear took root in his heart. And what happened? His actions spiraled—he disobeyed God, hunted David in rage, and eventually lost the kingdom. What was inside eventually came out.

Contrast that with David, who, though flawed, consistently returned to God with a soft heart. His psalms reveal a heart full of repentance, longing, worship, and truth. No wonder he was called a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22).

🔍 Practical Reflection

Because what’s inside… always comes out.

🧡 Closing Thoughts

The transformation God wants to do in your life doesn't start with behavior management—it starts with heart renovation. He wants to go deep, heal wounds, cleanse sin, and replace fear with peace. When He fills your heart, your mouth, your actions, and your life will reflect Him—from the inside out.

🙏 Prayer

Father, I confess that sometimes what comes out of my mouth or thoughts doesn’t reflect You. I realize it’s not just a slip—it’s a window into my heart. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Heal the hidden places. Uproot bitterness. Fill me with Your love, peace, and truth so that my words and actions overflow with life. I want to live from the inside out—for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
