š Scripture:
āAnd He said, āLet Me go, for the day breaks.ā But he said, āI will not let You go unless You bless me!āā - Genesis 32:26 (NKJV):
Life can sometimes feel like a raging riverāpulling, overwhelming, and threatening to drown our faith. There are moments when everything within us wants to let go, give up, and allow the current of pain, loss, or disappointment to sweep us away. But in these moments, the greatest act of faith is not a loud shout or a powerful sermonāit is the quiet, stubborn grip of someone who refuses to let go of God.
Jacob understood this intimately. On the night before he was to face his estranged brother Esau, he found himself in a wrestling match with what the Bible describes as a āmanāābut we later understand this was a divine encounter. Jacob wrestled all night long, wounded in the process, but he refused to let go until he received a blessing.
This wasnāt just about physical strength; it was about desperation, determination, and dependence. Jacob had reached a point in his life where he knew his only hope was in God. And so he clung. He held on. He wouldnāt let go.
Jacobās breakthrough came not in the daylight but in the struggle of the night. When he finally received his blessing, he also received a new identity: Israelāone who wrestles with God and prevails. And so will you.
Your midnight may feel long, but morning is coming. Keep holding on. Your name may be changed. Your limp may remind you of the struggleābut your blessing will follow. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning Psalm 30:5
Are you tired? Weary of holding on? Maybe your situation hasnāt changed, your prayers seem unanswered, and your heart feels like itās breaking. But dear friend, this is exactly when you must hold on the tightest.
Holding on unto God doesnāt mean pretending everything is okay. It means whispering, even through tears, āGod, I wonāt let go of You.ā
Like a drowning person clinging to a lifeline, your grip on God is not in vain. Even if your strength is small, His strength is great. Even when you feel like you're barely holding onāHe is holding on to you. His hands are strong and His promises are sure.
Faith isnāt always loud. Sometimes itās simply persistent. Sometimes itās just staying in the fight. Donāt let go. Donāt walk away. The blessing God has for you may be right around the corner.
Your struggle is not meaningless. Your persistence is not forgotten. God sees. God knows. And He rewards those who diligently seek Himāeven if all you can do right now is hold on.
Lord, sometimes I feel like Iām drowning. Life overwhelms me, and it feels like Iām losing grip. But today, I choose to hold on to Youānot because I have strength, but because You are my strength. Help me wrestle through the night with hope in my heart. Help me cling to You with the faith that You are working even when I donāt see it. Give me the endurance to wait for the blessing You have for me. I wonāt let go, Lord. I trust You. In Jesusā name, Amen.
