Scripture: “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” – Esther 4:14 (NIV)
Devotional Thought
The story of Esther is a powerful narrative of courage, purpose, and divine timing. As we delve into this passage, we find Esther at a crossroads. She is faced with a choice that could either save her people or lead to her own destruction. Mordecai’s words to Esther resonate with a challenge: "Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?"
This question is not just for Esther; it is a question for all of us. We all encounter moments in life when we are placed in situations that require us to step up, take risks, and make a difference. These are the moments when God’s purpose for our lives intersects with the needs of the world around us.
Mordecai’s words remind us that our positions, talents, and opportunities are not coincidental. They are divinely orchestrated for a specific purpose. Sometimes, like Esther, we may feel hesitant or afraid to take action. The task ahead may seem daunting, and the potential consequences may be overwhelming. But it is in these moments of uncertainty that God calls us to trust in His plan and to step forward in faith.
God places us in situations “for such a time as this” not because we are strong, but because He is strong. He equips us with everything we need to fulfill His purpose. Our role is to be willing vessels, ready to be used by God in whatever way He sees fit.
Practical Reflection
As you reflect on Mordecai’s words, consider the areas in your life where God might be calling you to step up. Is there a cause you need to champion? A voice you need to raise? A stand you need to take? Remember that you are not alone; God is with you, guiding and empowering you.
Prayer
Dear Lord, thank You for placing me where I am for a reason. Help me to recognize the opportunities You have given me to make a difference. Give me the courage to act, even when I am afraid, and the wisdom to understand Your timing and purpose. May I be used by You to bring about Your will “for such a time as this.” In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
