Scripture: "When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior." – Judges 6:12 (NIV)

Devotional Thoughts

Many times, we live far below the purpose for which God created us. Life’s challenges, disappointments, and fears often push us into hiding, making us settle for less than God’s divine plan. Yet, from the beginning, God designed us for more—to walk in His power, fulfill His purpose, and glorify His name.

The story of Gideon in Judges 6 is a perfect example. When the angel of the Lord appeared to him, he was hiding from the Midianites, threshing wheat in a winepress out of fear. He saw himself as weak and insignificant, but God saw him as a mighty man of valor. Though Gideon felt unqualified, God had already equipped him for the task ahead.

Just like Gideon, we sometimes allow fear, insecurity, or our past experiences to dictate our identity. There were times I felt unworthy of being used by God due to my shortcomings. However, God looks beyond our weaknesses and sees what He has created us to be. Sometimes, this distorted perspective clouds our vision and limits what we believe we can accomplish. Yet, God’s perspective of us is far greater than how we see ourselves. He calls us victorious, chosen, and created for more. No matter where we find ourselves today, God is calling us higher—to walk in faith, trust in His power, and embrace His purpose for our lives.

Practical Reflection

Closing Thoughts

God never calls us based on our current limitations; He calls us according to His divine purpose. You were created for more than mere survival—you were created to thrive in the plans of God. No matter what has held you back, today is the day to step into your calling with confidence. Like Gideon, you may not feel mighty, but God calls you mighty! Trust Him, obey His call, and walk boldly into the future He has prepared for you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for creating me for more. Forgive me for the times I have allowed fear, doubt, or insecurity to keep me from stepping into Your plan. Help me to see myself as You see me—chosen, victorious, and empowered by Your Spirit. Give me the courage to step out in faith and fully embrace the purpose You have for my life. I trust You to lead me into greater things for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Note: Gideon was created for more than just hiding from the Midianites.
