Scripture: But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)

Devotional Thoughts

In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel spiritually drained. The pressures of work, family, ministry, and life can leave us running on empty. Just as a phone needs to be plugged in to recharge, our souls require intentional connection with God to be restored. The fasting season is an especially opportune time for this recharge—a time to turn down the noise of the world and turn up the voice of the Holy Spirit.

Fasting not only helps us disconnect from distractions but also allows us to plug into the source of all power: God. When we fast and pray, we create space for God’s strength to flow into our spiritual “batteries.” Like a phone that performs poorly when it’s not fully charged, we operate below capacity when we’re not regularly recharged in God’s presence.

Consider Elijah’s story in 1 Kings 19. After a great spiritual victory on Mount Carmel, Elijah became emotionally and physically drained, fleeing to the wilderness in fear and exhaustion. There, under a broom tree, he prayed for God to take his life. But instead of chastising Elijah, God ministered to him. Through rest, nourishment, and divine encounter, Elijah’s strength was restored, allowing him to journey forward for 40 days and nights. Similarly, when we plug into God—whether through prayer, worship, or fellowship—He faithfully recharges us.

Practical Reflection

To stay spiritually energized:

Being recharged isn’t just for a season—it’s for daily life. The more we remain plugged into God, the more we reflect His strength, joy, and love in all we do.

Closing Thoughts

The fasting season reminds us of the importance of plugging into God, but this should be our lifestyle, not just a temporary habit. God is our source of strength, wisdom, and peace. As we draw near to Him, He fills us to overflowing, enabling us to run and not grow weary. Whether in fasting or in everyday life, let’s stay plugged in, constantly recharging through His Word, worship, and the encouragement of others.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for being the source of all power and strength. Help me to stay connected to You in every season of life. Teach me to find rest in Your presence, to be intentional in my worship, and to surround myself with those who encourage me in my walk with You. May my soul be continually recharged as I seek You, and may my life reflect Your strength and glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
